Finding and adding products to your channels
4 min read
Before you start
You need an account and at least one channel. A channel is one store or marketplace account, for example your Shopify store. Products are always added to a channel, so open a channel first: Channels in the menu, then the button to add a channel.
Only products that are for sale can be added. Discontinued products show Product Discontinued and cannot be added.
Way 1: from our website or the Catalogue
Use this when you want to look around, see photos and read descriptions.
- Log in. Browse our website, or open Catalogue in the menu. The catalogue has Departments, Sub-Departments, Families, Products, Collections and Bundles.
- Open a product to see its price, RRP, stock and description.
- Press Add to all channels. The product goes into My Products of every open channel you have. A channel that is not connected to its platform is skipped.
- To add it to one channel only, press the ⋮ button next to it. Under Add product to a specific channel, click the channel. A tick shows the channels that already have it.
Once the product is in at least one of your channels, Add to all channels is replaced by a grey Exist on some channels: use the ⋮ button to add it to the other channels one by one. When it is in all of them the button says Exist on all channels and the ⋮ button goes away.
On a family or sub-department page you can add the whole group at once: press Add category to channel and, under Add all products in this category to portfolios in channel, click the channel. Every product of that family or sub-department that is for sale is added. When all of them are already in all your channels, the button says This category exists in all channels.
Way 2: from inside a channel
Use this when you already know the product codes or names.
- Open Channels in the menu and click your channel. Open My Products.
- Press Add products. The window Select products to be added to shop opens.
- Type in the search box. By default it searches Product names and codes. Click Department, Sub-department or Family to search by the name of that group instead.
- Tick the products you want. Select ... products in this page ticks the whole page.
- Press Add. The button shows how many products you ticked.
This window only lists products that are for sale and are not in this channel yet.
Other ways to fill a channel
- From a spreadsheet: on My Products, press the upload button (Import from xlsx file). Download the template, write one product code per row in the sku column and upload it. Codes that we cannot find, or products that are not for sale, are skipped and shown as failed.
- Copy from another channel: on My Products, press ⋮ and choose a channel under Clone portfolio from channel:. All its products are copied into this channel. This button only shows when another channel already has products.
Check the products arrived
Open My Products of the channel. The number next to My Products in the menu counts the products in the list. On a platform channel, new products show red (not connected) in the Status column until you create or match them in your store, and a yellow bar says You have ... products not synced yet.
Next step: put them in your store
Adding a product only puts it in your list. To sell it you must send it to your store. See Using My Products and the guide for your platform, for example Managing products on WooCommerce or Managing products on eBay.
A manual channel has no store to send to. You order the products from a basket. See Managing products on the manual channel.
When something goes wrong
- The button says "Something went wrong" / "Failed to add to portfolio". Refresh the page and try again. If it keeps failing, ask us in the chat on our website.
- I pressed "Add to all channels" but one channel does not have the product. Only open channels get it. A channel that is closed, that you deleted, or that is not connected to its platform is skipped. Add the product to that channel from inside it with Add products.
- I cannot find a product in the "Add products" window. It is already in this channel, or it is not for sale at the moment, or it is discontinued. Check the My Products list first.
- The product is in My Products but not in my store. That is normal. Adding does not publish. Use Create new product, or one of the match buttons such as Match with this product, on My Products.
- The spreadsheet upload says "SKU not found in this shop" or "Product is not for sale". The code in the sku column must be our product code, exactly as shown on the product page. Fix the row and upload again.
